Retail, especially luxury sales, have slowed and even become stagnant in this current economic status (like I need to even remind you considering the fail in Holiday sales this year), leaving designers, wholesalers and retailers seeking new market opportunities.
Between 2014-2015, this was thought to be the growing Asian market, however, as China’s growing population became saturated, they have now turned to the Middle East. The Middle East has presented itself as viable market not only for hand-made islands and decadent cuisine, but for their growing population of female shoppers with significant opportunities for greater wallet share.
Luxury designers are now paying attention in a bigger way. They’re understanding their specific needs and creating and curating collections inspired by the unique cultural needs of countries such as the United Arab Emirates. Finally, these designers are getting on board with something that has been obvious for the past 5 years.
Design duo Dolce & Gabbana have recently announced plans to launch a collection of contemporary, traditional pieces created and tailored just for the Middle East.
Designer Stefano Gabbana mentioned:
“I’m really fascinated with the Middle East, and we’ve just completed a prêt-a-porter collection of abayas and sheylas.”
They also noted recently that the focus at Dolce & Gabbana shows is for the guests to feel as effortless as the work feels for the designers.
As many designers have sought to find a connection with the Middle Eastern market on their terms, Dolce and Gabbana is one of the first major luxury labels to truly create a collection exclusively for some of the highest-spending yet underserviced female shoppers in the world. By understanding the nuances of the Middle-Eastern culture and the specific need for traditional pieces — such as a abaya and sheyla that focus on modesty yet are still high-fashion and contemporary — they will lead the pack into this beyond emerging market and are sure to have a fashion-minded company in the UAE and its neighbors.
The collection will be available in the UAE during October 2016. I’m sure the Abaya will now even become a trend to the Middle Eastern population in the U.S. just so they can have some D&G on them. The real question is, will D&G be able to break HandM Balmains craziness and sales record that just happened in the UAE?

it’s obvious that they are doing it just for the “Arab Money”.
just step into any major mall in the GCC and you’ll see all the international brands with their “localized” products, this includes perfumes, pens, watches, and more.
Money has no ethnicity.
do you not know what the term “Arab money” means?
No, you are the only one with this unique secret knowledge. BTW do you know what the color of money means?
alright be that way.
Alisha, many cultures have sayings that are unique to them. Nevertheless, Arab money does exist and almost all Muslims know about it. Arab money is same as saying U.S. Dollar…it really doesn’t have any negative connotations. I hope I explained this properly. Thank you!
BBC
We are being targeted as consumers in a business world that will invest our money against us…or against morality in general. Arab money: money owned and spent by Arabs, who are known to be wealthy in many countries. Their desire is that we spend with them. My answer is no! Invest back in my country instead. I agree with Mohd.
Your point is valid however one must consider the potential unintended consequences of what you are suggesting:
#1. Both Saddam and Qaddafi were taken out and two of the most thriving Muslim countries were were bombed into the stone age, permanently because they where disengaging Arab Money form the Dollar.
Millions of Muslims killed. Muslim family structure broken and life rent asunder. Innocent Muslim women forced into prostitution and slavery.
Muslim land and natural resources taken at the point of a gun, cents to the dollar, while the criminal, racist Apartheid Zionist State Israel expanded further into Muslim lands and consolidated its position in the very heart of the Muslim World.
#2. When trade barriers are removed rather than new ones erected the economic effect of free flow of capital, labor and entrepreneurship and innovation finds its most cost effective optimum level.
This raises the quality of life globally especially for the have not third world rather than selectively enjoyed by the Military Industrial Complex and hedonists of the West.

Makes many here look foolish. Specially this guy who calls himself Mohd. Likely a sexist cultural Hindoo who never cleared high school.
Muslims in general I have found to be sexist, critical of women taking initiative, myopic, xenophobic, uneducated, inbred, stupid. This person is a good example of all that.
Could they be less subtle?
Both models look exotic, elegant, effortlessly feminine. Bring out the protective masculine in you.The right one specially. The left one should lose those gogs. Both are probably the same girl, though.
Controversial in America. Rubber necking traffic stoppers. In a mall…head turning stares. Attractive esoteric in a party/get together. These are too striking except in a formal setting. I’d prefer them in warm pastel girl colors rather than cold somber woman.
I would like to add that I would rather being exploited myself (as a working class individual) than purchase items that are peddled at the local mosque and possibly/probably produced by exploiting the poor (pronounced “ch-i-eld lay-burrr)
