Whoever returns to Me, I accept him no matter how far he is, and whoever turns away from Me, I approach him and call on him.
Whoever leaves a sin for my sake, I reward him with many gifts, and whoever seeks to please Me, I seek to please him.
Whoever acknowledges My Will and Power in whatever he does, I make the iron bend for his sake.
My dear people are those who are with Me.
Whoever thanks Me, I grant him more blessings; whoever obeys Me, I raise him and endear him more.
Whoever disobeys Me, I keep the doors of My Mercy [...]

There was a beautiful woman who wanted to get married, and desired to have a very pious husband. She decided that she’ll marry the man who recites the whole Qur’an every single day, fasts for the whole year, and stays awake and worships Allah all throughout the night.
Her comeliness was astounding and a great number of suitors wanted to marry her, but they knew they couldn’t fulfill the conditions she set… Until this one man stepped forward and said he could fulfill them. So, the Imam married them to each [...]

Sadly, Ramadan is spiraling to an end. It’s important that we press the breaks and try to make the most out of these last few blessed moments. Take your eyes off the clock and place them in the Qur’an! Keep saying ithkar and pray all your voluntary prayers. Keep yourself in good company that reminds you of Allah . Pray taraweeh! In fact, take a bag of candy with you to the mosque and give everyone a piece during the break. Help your brother or sister break their fast. Put the [...]

Could it be the manner in which I speak?
Do you disapprove of the clothes I wear?
Is it the fact that you can not see my hair?
Maybe it’s because you believe I’m weak
Well I for one find fault in your critique
My mode of dress should be my own affair
As natural to me as bowing down in prayer
Is my choice not flaunt my own physique
No man made law should attempt to impede
My desire to do right by my own belief
Don’t imprison me within your own ideal
All the while crying out “she must be [...]

Coping with your Period During Ramadan

The last ten nights of Ramadan are upon us and I am sure all of us are aware of the virtues of these blessed nights. Here is a list of some actions Prophet Muhammad used to partake in during these last nights as a reminder to all of us because Allah says in the Holy Qur’an: “And remind for verily, the reminding benefits the believers.” (51:55)

Etiquette of the Prophet in the last ten nights: abstain from sexual desires, practice i’tikaaf, and even seclude himself from his wives.
Al-Bukhari and Muslim record from Aisha that during the last ten [...]

Zakah: Purification of the Soul

Zakah: Purification of the Soul

When I was gardening with my mother in the front yard, planting blooming flowers or slender vines, my hands were getting the worst of it.  The result of our efforts was magnificent – or as magnificent as we could make it – and our hard work paid off.  Each morning we would have an evolving garden to look forward to.  However, at the completion of our task, we found our hands covered with mud and nails darkened with the result of our labor.  Without doubt, I was not going to march in, prop open the fridge, take out the leftovers, [...]

Art and Literature During the Golden Age

The Islamic Golden Age may be recognized for its remarkable advancements in science and technology, but that doesn’t mean those were the only fields that prospered during this time. Literature and the arts grew to staggering heights as classic works arose and beautiful innovative designs were produced. The Golden Age began to give Islamic art a category of its own, and as the Islamic Empire continued to grow, so did its creative side. In fact, if contributions were never made in these fields, the world would truly miss something incredible.
Literature during the Golden Age was characterized by a variety of [...]

Among its many accomplishments, the Islamic Empire was also renowned worldwide for its incredible textile and blacksmith industries. Textiles characterized by rich colors and details, and steel that was notorious for its matchless precision, characterized the quality and marvelousness of Islamic creations that later civilizations aspired to recreate with little success.
Byzantine and Sasanian served as the building blocks for the evident rise of the textile industry in the early Islamic period.  Textiles were common in wealthy households in the forms of clothing, household furnishings, and forms of portable residence.   Alongside, the ongoing trade was directly affecting this industry.  The items [...]
