Gaza, One Year Later…

Gaza, One Year Later…

Day by day, the death toll rose; I myself can remember climbing out of bed in the morning in fear of the new numbers I would read.
We were uninvited spectators; that I knew. We had forgotten about our suffering Palestinian brothers until the very moment they needed us the most, and even then our passion [...]

Sometimes you have to turn things down a notch and go to an informal gathering. Mixing up the trend of skirts and making it hijab friendly with a pair of jeans can take you right out of the mall into the mosque for prayer. When we are born, two faculties are created alongside us as challenges to make us vulnerable to committing crimes: Shaytan and Nafs. Allah then surrounded it with disagreeable things, and said, ‘Go and look at it now.’ Jibreel (AS) went, and returned, saying, ‘O Lord! By Thy might, I am afraid that no one will enter it.’
When Allah created Hell, He said to Jibreel (AS), ‘Go and look at it.’ Jibreel (AS) went, and returned, saying, ‘O Lord! By Thy [...]

Lately, a lot of runways and notable female celebs have been rocking “feminized” mens’ suits. It definitely works for a classic look, and there is no better time to wear the get-up than on a night out with friends and family. With a few extra touches, it’s easy to make the outfit modest. Check out this combination of a sassy black outfit with pink or gray accessories. Loose black dress pants and a tuxedo jacket makes this outfit modest, and make use of a cute minidress that otherwise wouldn’t be hijab-friendly. The subtle touch of pink brings out that feminine [...]

Assalam alaikum, dear sisters, my name is Asra and I will be posting these Daily Hadith columns. I will quote the source of all these Hadith, they are mostly from Sahih Bukhari or Sahih Muslim.
So, here is the first:
Consistency
Abu Huraira narrated from the Prophet that once, a man was travelling in the wilderness. He heard a voice in the clouds ordering an angel of a cloud to rain on a particular farm. So the man followed the cloud and saw that it did indeed rain on a rocky mountain plain. All the water gathered into a stream and poured [...]

Millions in Mecca for Hajj Despite Rain and Flu

The Associated Press Reports: “Millions of Muslims have been arriving in Mecca for the annual Hajj pilgrimage. They are taking part this year despite rain and the threat of swine flu dampening the rituals.”
Other factors besides the recent flu and rain include overcrowding, a common problem amongst Muslims through each pilgrimage. Yet it is the zeal and passion that urges Muslims each year to not only fulfill one of the five pillars of Islam, but to also display their religious devotion to Allah .
