By We are very excited to introduce our readers to The Girls’ Room, our new monthly webseries of online panels to discuss pertinent topics and issues with badass guests that we all know and love.
Our first installment, #TAKEBACKTHEMIC, is proudly in conjunction with the 16 Days Against Gender Violence campaign. #TAKEBACKTHEMIC will be a discussion stemming from MuslimGirl’s recent collective letter, “Muslim Feminists Respond: The Hypocrisy of the Male-Centric Narrative,” and blog post, “The Hijab as a Tool of Victim Blaming: A Personal Response to MuslimMatters.” We will discuss the problematic justification of sexual harassment and rape culture in our society and how we must reclaim our narrative in the discourse.
Join us on Monday, December 8 at 8:00-9:30 PM EST. This Google Hangout is OPEN TO ALL and we encourage everyone to share and invite your friends to this online event. We will be using the hashtag #TAKEBACKTHEMIC to have a live conversation on Twitter and take questions for our guests during the airing.
