“You will die and they will die, and Muhammad is but a Messenger; of a surety, all Messengers before him have passed away. If then, he die or be slain, will you turn back on your heels? Whosoever worships Muhammad (SAW), let him then know that Muhammad indeed is dead; but whoso worshipped Allah (SWT), let him know that Allah lives and does not die.”
These were the words that Abu Bakr uttered to the Muslims upon the death of the beloved Prophet Muhammad . In his words, it is witnessed the loss that the Islamic [...]

Prophet Muhammad was in grave condition. Soon after his last sermon, he was so weak that he could not move. He appointed Abu Bakr to lead the prayers in his place (a wise forethought, for Abu Bakr was to become the Caliph after the death of the Prophet.) Although he was dangerously ill, he worried about violating the rights of his wives, for he was required to spend each day in a different wife’s house. However, he gathered them all and requested permission to remain in Aisha’s apartment for the duration of his illness. The respectful and obliging wives [...]

The year 10 A.H. was one of the most significant years of the Islamic calendar. Leaders and tribes that one could have never imagined would show the least bit of acceptance towards Prophet Muhammad began to embrace Islam as their faith, and multitudes of people were turning to the religion of Allah . The light of Islam was spreading and touching the lives of people in the greatest and most unimaginable ways. It was this year that Prophet Muhammad would embark on his pilgrimage, presenting the world with an example of pilgrimage and leaving them with words [...]

They did not wish to strive in Allah’s way with their wealth and their selves; and they said (to the others), “Do not go in the heat”. Say (O Muhammad), “The fire of Hell is fiercer in heat”; if only they could understand.
– Surah at-Tawbah, 9:81
In the 9th year of the Muslim calendar, the Byzantine forces converged on the borders of Syria, planning to mount an invasion of the infant Muslim territories. Rumours of the danger were carried to Mecca by traders. They said the invading army of Heraclius (then-Byzantine emperor) numbered anywhere from 40,000 to 100,000 men. On top [...]

The tribes of the Hawazin and Thaqif were of the final few tribes that did not accept the message of Islam in Mecca and they fought against Prophet Muhammad . The battle took place during the month of Shawwal in the eighth year of Hijrah.
Under his command, Prophet Muhammad had 12,000 armed soldiers. Ten thousand of them were of those who accompanied him during his journey from Madina to Makkah, and the remaining two thousand were those from amongst the Quraysh who had just embraced the message of Islam. At that time, this was considered to be a [...]

After Muslims were hassled by the Quraysh on their way to Mecca to perform the umrah, Prophet Muhammad decided that it was time to take diplomatic action. The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah was composed, providing for a ten-year-truce and allowing ample time for outside tribes to make their alliances. Peace came to the hijaz. Little did the early Muslims know, it was only temporary.
Banu Bakr–a tribe that had allied itself with the Quraysh–snuck into a Muslim encampment at night and massacred its residents on sacred ground. Although aggression from the Banu Bakr had emerged before, Prophet Muhammad felt [...]

Prophet Muhammad sent a man named Al-Harith bin Umair al Azdi to the ruler of Busra inviting him to the religion of Islam. The governor of al-Balqa, Sharhabeel bin Amr al Ghazani interfered and Al-Harith ended up getting beheaded. This was not to be taken lightly since the Treaty of Hudaybiyah had promised peace.
The Prophet rallied 3000 of his men and said, “Zaid bin Haritha will be commander and if Zayd should be killed, then it will be Ja’far bin Abu Talib. If Jafar is killed, then Abdullah bin Rawahah will be commander. If he should be killed, [...]

The Treaty of Hudaibiyah is called by the Qur’an a “clear victory.” Six years after migrating to Medina, Prophet Muhammad had a dream that he and his followers were performing Umra (pilgrimage). After having this dream, the Prophet and about fourteen hundred Companions started towards Makkah. Since they did not want any fighting, they did not carry any weapons with them. Nearer to Makkah, at a place called Dhul-Hulaifah, the Muslims started Umra by wearing the Ihram (special clothing for pilgrimage), which would make them safe, as they would be seen as pilgrims.
As the Muslims approached Makkah, the [...]
